Tall Tale

Trusting to himself
he traveled far, and
gathered many treasures.

He was given
the power he sought
and used it wisely.

Amid the multitudes
he spent the wealth of nations,
but never for himself.

Now he has
a further charge,
a different equation.

Exiled king holding
neither army nor treasure
yet still laden with challenge.

A puzzle and riddle
yet to be solved,
as in the very beginning.

And this is not
from olden times,
this story.

Even in millennial
modernity, there is
still the quest of kings.
