March in Auld Manhattoe

My heart beats passion fast
in fleeting warmth,
Then slows to sleepy thud
in March freeze.

While branches glow in
new green,
I still wear my winter coat!
Longer light, shorter night,
Don't know if I'm coming
or going,

Skyscraper glows in
brighter sun,
Faces bathed in gold on
city sidewalks,
The young girls haven't
broken out in their flower colors yet.

Veiled still, clarity
Abides in secret ,
Until the revolution
of the season is complete.
